MY ANTI-NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS RANT
I really don’t like New Year’s resolutions. Why? Because they’re built on comparison, illusion, and hollow victories.
Here’s what I’m choosing to do instead in 2026.
We treat resolutions like a sprint. A mad dash to hit some shiny goal when what actually matters is protecting your time, energy, and focus for the marathon of sustainable success.
True success isn’t measured by how much you can do in the next 30 days. It’s about building something that still matters in 12 months, and still works for you five years from now.
So, what’s an ambitious goal-setter to do?
Let’s talk about how to spot (and reframe) those sabotaging, short-sighted resolutions.
Short-Sighted Goal:
“I want to get more placements to make $100,000 in 2026.”
Try this instead:
“I want to create and automate a marketing system that attracts my ideal clients and generates $300,000 in predictable annual revenue within five years.”
You’re not in business to have one good year.
You’re building a business that supports your life, not one that consumes it.
That’s where MMC comes in. Our superpower is restructuring systems so that they independently of you produce consistent, reliable results.
What does that look like?
Identifying what marketing actually works for your agency
Clarifying what to say (and where to say it) to carve your niche
Creating repeatable systems that attract your dream clients year after year
Short-Sighted Goal:
“I want to lose 30 pounds by my birthday.”
Try this instead:
“I want to consistently show up for my physical and mental health for the next 90 days.”
You could put in a ton of work to chase a number and miss it by a few pounds, and still feel defeated. Instead, commit to consistency, not punishment.
Measure progress in ways that actually matter:
Higher energy
Better focus
Confidence in how you move through the world
Those are your real victories.
Short-Sighted Goal:
“I want to be in the black by Q3 of 2026.”
Try this instead:
“I want to strengthen my profit margins by X% and build a financial cushion that gives my agency breathing room.”
Because yes. you can technically be “in the black” and still feel one invoice away from panic.
That’s where MMC’s Business Health Check comes in. We’ll help you determine what your agency truly needs to:
Service debt
Pay your team sustainably
Save intentionally
Invest confidently
Then we will uncover the why.
Why isn’t that growth happening yet? Is it a marketing gap, recruiting bottleneck, or capacity issue? Once we know, we create a plan that gets you off the tightrope, for good.
Here’s the truth:
Twelve months from now, I don’t want you to look back at 2026 and feel guilty, burned out, or unsure of where the year went.
Instead of chasing unrealistic goals that fade by February, set long-sighted intentions that lead to genuine, lasting change, personally and professionally.
If you’re ready to make 2026 the year of aligned growth (not just busy growth), I’ll be right here to help you build the systems, strategies, and support you need to do it.
Our team is taking a short winter break to rest and reconnect with our families, but we will be back January 2nd, ready to take on 2026.

Happy holidays and cheers to building something that lasts.
